Press Release: Jump
The women’s jump final will miss the current world champion Angeliki Andriopoulou who was injured in
the first round put on her skis in the second round to try and make the finals.
Natallia Bernikava jumping a great distance of 51 meters four meters clear of her next competitor will go
into the finals as the top seed followed by June Fladborg who is the second seed going into the finals
jumping 47meters.
The four other women’s jump skiers going into the final are Nancy Chardin 46.7m, American Alex
Lauretano 45.2, Marion Mathieu from France 44.4. The final skier and first off the dock will be Marie
Vympranietsova from Greece 43.9.
The Men’s jump event saw a lot bigger jumps in the second round which made it tough for skiers to
qualify for the finals. After going out the front on his first jump in round one Jaret Llewellyn made a great
return in the second round having the biggest jump of 64.6 meters and will be last off the dock in the
jump final.
Freddy Krueger was not far behind jumping 63.9meters, also qualifying for the jump final was Jimmy
Siemers 62.5m, Ryan Fitts 62.3m, Jason Seels 60.3m, Damien Sharman 61.9m, Ryan Dodd 61.8m and first off the dock and one of Melbourne’s crowd favorites will be Scot Ellis 61.6 meters.
The Women’s final starts at 2pm, the men hit the water at 4pm competition will be tight with such a
strong line up of skiers in each off the finals.
