The feature event of the Moomba Masters and hitting the water today for the first time at the 2008
Moomba event are twenty four of the best jumpers from around the world. This year will see the best
line up of men’s jumper’s with eighteen of the world’s best twenty.
One of the best back drops in the world of water skiing the Melbourne skyline, the men will tackle the six
foot ramp reaching speeds in excess 100 kilometers an hour soaring distances of nearly seventy
meters.
Making the trip to Australia from America is the current world record holder and world champion Freddy
Krueger. Krueger is keen to take home one of the most prestige’s event the professional water ski
calendar.
Hot on Krueger’s heels will be last years Moomba Night jump champion and the man who has jumped
further than any water skier leaping a whopping 299 feet Jaret Llewellyn. Llewellyn is back to try and
take home his 21st Moomba title.
A familiar face to Moomba and a crowd favorite trying to out leap his fellow competitors is Scot Ellis.
Ellis is very familiar with the Yarra Conditions having appeared more than any competitor at Moomba
making the trip from the US for more than 18 years, his first appearance when he was a junior
competitor.
Twenty four men will strap on there skis at 3pm today to try and make the cut of just twelve men into
tomorrows semi finals.
